Vocabulary Tests will take place on Friday. Please ensure your child is prepared. Below is a suggested routine. Find a routine that works best for you and your child.
Monday : Define each vocabulary word.
Tuesday : Rewrite the example sentences.
Wednesday : Answer the vocabulary questions.
Thursday : Write your own detailed sentence with each vocabulary word.
Friday : Vocabulary Test - Student must use the word correctly in a detailed sentence.
Unit 1 Vocabulary Test Guide

Unit 1 Week 1
1. learn- to gain knowledge or a new skill
2. subjects- things you study at school, like reading or science
3. common- normal or ordinary
4. object- a thing or an item
5. recognize – to remember something because you have seen it before


Unit 1 Week 2
1. city- a large town with tall buildings and many people
2. country- the land outside a town or city, where there are farms and not many buildings or people
3. bored- feeling that you have nothing to do or that nothing is interesting
4. feast- a big, fancy meal with many different foods
5. scurried – moving very quickly


Unit 1 Week 3
1. care- to give someone or something what it needs to stay healthy and happy
2. train- to teach someone or something to do things
3. companion- an animal or person that keeps you company
4. groom- to wash or brush
5. popular- enjoyed by many people

1. cooperate- work together to get something done
2. relationship- a connection with a person
3. chore- a small job you must do
4. collect- gather things together
5. deliver- take something to the person it belongs to

1. calendar- a chart that shows the days, weeks, and months of the year

4. immediately- right away, without waiting
5. schedule- timetable showing when things happen

Unit 4 Week 1
1. feature- a part of something that is important or interesting
2. appearance- the way somebody or something looks
3. determined- when you work very hard to do something
4. predicament- a difficult situation
5. relief- what people feel when their troubles are gone and they don't need to worry anymore
6. special- if something is special, it is important.
7. splendid- something that is splendid is wonderful or very good


Unit 4 Week 2
1. behavior- a way of acting
2. beneficial- something that is helpful or useful
3. dominant- an animal that has power over the other animals it lives with
4. endangered- when a group of animals is at risk of disappearing forever
5. instinct- a natural behavior that animals are born with
6. danger- if there is danger, there is a risk of being hurt or harmed
7. partner- a person who works with you to do something is your partner
